When we received an invitation to experience the Hot Stone Massage in Dubai at the Softouch Spa we were very keen to try it out. We arrived at the spa a few minutes before our treatment and began by filling out a form and then heading straight to our therapy room.
A bit skeptical it was a relief to see that the volcanic basalt stones, although heated were not very hot and were also flat and smooth.  The therapist explained that she would be using the stones as an extension of her own hands and by placing them on various parts of the body
Given an option of different oils, the Lavender was most appealing and once the choice was made the massage began. Instructed to lie on the stomach, the therapist worked on the shoulders, back and finally the legs-strategically placing the stones on each area that was completed. We then flipped over and let her work on the feet, legs and finally the head and face.
The massage ended in 60 minutes but we went on to request an additional 30 minutes of reflexology on the legs and feet. An added bonus that gave us some more time to relax.
The heat from the stones really helped to relax the tense muscles and definitely made the massage more effective. The warmth of the hot stones also improves circulation.
The hot stone massage is highly therapeutic and a great way to feel rejuvenated and refreshed.
