The Lighthouse has a brand new branch at Mall of the Emirates.
We are jumping with joy because our favorite spot, The Lighthouse, situated smack bang in the heart of d3, has a brand new outpost at Mall of the Emirates. Tucked away on the top floor, it is a welcome new addition to the buzzing shopping centre.
The decor stays true to the brand and is cool, white and light with plenty of seating to choose from. There is a very tempting retail section where you can find funky artefacts, coffee table books, and fun gifts.
We also spotted a few new dishes on the Mediterranean inspired menu, but since we were there for iftar, we had a set menu presented to us. We broke the fast with dates and a light and really delicious red lentil soup topped with chili and baked croutons. From the salads we picked the roasted red beets served with goat cheese.
The mains were the real show-stopper and both our dishes were phenomenal. The grilled baby chicken with fried shallots and pistachio was a dish we know we will go back for over and over again. We also adored the slow cooked lamb shank served on a bed of couscous.
We found ourselves struggling to pick a dessert from the options and finally decided upon the saffron milk cake. A light and fluffy sponge topped with a decadent sauce and whipped cream.
Iftars at restaurants are usually a lavish affair with too many dishes and a lot of food going to waste. We loved that The Lighthouse has a wholesome set menu with perfect portions. We were quick to wipe our plates clean and left there feeling satisfied. It really is a wonderful option for iftar, if you want quality food without overindulging.
Once Ramadan is over, we know we will be back at this new location for coffee breaks and long lunch catchups with friends.
