THIS LAID-BACK BEACHFRONT RESTAURANT IS OUR NEW HANGOUT

Koko Bay is a Bali-inspired restaurant located on The Palm Jumeirah.

We are always on the lookout for new local homegrown restaurants and our latest find has totally got us obsessed. We were recently invited to Koko Bay, a beachfront Bali-inspired restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating.

The gorgeous interiors with wicker chairs, thatched roofs and an overall cozy vibe the indoors is ideal for intimate gatherings with a small group of friends. The outdoor is spread all across the beach with cabanas, tables, daybeds and even hammocks. Depending on your mood pick the seating that works best-if you are there for a long day, feel free to bring your bathing suits and take a quick dip in the sea.

The idyllic setting with a view of the sea and Dubai Marina skyline is absolutely magical, especially at sunset.  We chose to head there in the early evening and say on a table with our feet dipped deep into the sand-there is also deck seating outside if you want to keep your feet clean.

There is an extensive menu filled with a mix of Asian and European dishes and since they open bright and early there is also a breakfast menu available for the morning hours. Everything sounds very tempting so like us, you will also struggle to pick just a few. We started with some moreish Chicken karaage-Japanese style deep fried chicken with a kimchi based sauce. We also decided to indulge on Potato spirals that were spiced with a cajun mix and served with chipotle mayo.

Since we stayed well 8 pm, we ordered a few more courses during the evening. The beef skewers were tender and had a nice kick to them because of the black pepper sauce.

We can’t resist a good spicy tuna roll and  we quite enjoyed their version with the crunch of the tobiko and the heat from the togarashi.

We wanted to keep it light and although there were so many mouthwatering main courses to pick from we decided to opt for a bowl of Nom Nom Asian crunch. This hearty salad was refreshing and made with red cabbage, carrots, edamame, roasted cashew nuts, cucumber, lychee, tempura crunch in soy sesame dressing and we picked prawn as the additional protein.

As the evening progressed we decided to treat ourselves to the Dropped lemon tart made with lemon curd, pistachio, short crust pastry, coffee reduction and burnt meringue. The perfect mix of sweet and tangy, we adored it!

This picturesque new spot is definitely one that you will keep coming back to!
