A MODERN TAKE ON TRADITIONAL INDIAN IFTAR

Indego by celebrity chef Vineet Bhatia is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in Dubai. Located at Grovesnor House, the inviting restaurant has an inviting decor with a distinct Indian touch. We loved the huge bowls of water filled with rose petals, marigolds and tealights. We were seated on their terrace that overlooks the stunning Dubai Marina.

This set menu Iftar is a celebration of Indian food that begins once the call to prayer is heard.  We began with a hearty lentil soup served with a side of Bombay toast-simple in its flavours, it is the ideal way to break the fast.  Next came the appetizer platter with a melt-in-the-mouth lamb kebabs and chicken tikka grilled in aromatic spices and the star of the night. The appetizers were simply divine.

In the mains we were served butter chicken, okra in a homemade spice mix, lentils, lamb prawn stewed in a delicious sauce and an aromatic biryani.  Each dish was exploding with flavours and we couldn’t help but scoop it all up with the piping hot naans that kept coming our way.

Dessert was a memorable affair. We were served traditional gulab jamuns and ras malai. Both were made to perfection and we were quick to wipe the bowls clean.

Overall, the entire experience was perfect in every way.  A welcome change from the typical flavours we are used to, the chefs at Indego infuse a touch of tradition with contemporary flair and offer a memorable Indian Iftar in Dubai.
