A LEBANESE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT TO TRY IN DUBAI

Al Hallab Bab El Bahr

Al Hallab Bab El Bahr is a seafood restaurant in Dubai inspired by the coastal cuisine of Lebanon.

We adore Lebanese cuisine.  So when we received an invitation to experience Lebanon’s Mediterranean seafood fare in Downtown Dubai we decided to give it a try.

Located in Downtown Dubai on Mohammed Bin Rashed Boulevard, AL Hallab Bab El Bahr has a formal setting and  striking Arabic modern decor – that makes it more suitable for diner rather than a casual lunch on-the-go.  Our meal began with a basket of piping hot bread that we dipped into the Batenjan Raheb (20 AED), a refreshing mix of grilled eggplant, tomato and green pepper served with a lemon and olive oil dressing. Simple but tasty.

Next arrived the Seabass Marina (58 AED), an absolute must-try, it was a simple but extremely flavourful dish made with cured seabass served in a delightful homemade sauce.

The Shrimp Provencal (42 AED) was a delectable recipe of garlic, coriander and lemon that we wiped clean with the bread. Upon recommendation of our server we also tried the Kibbeh Samak (27 AED)-a mince of fish and wheat fried up and served with a luscious saffron sauce.

Overall even though we would not have necessarily been attracted to the restaurant at first sight – as the look is very formal – it was a nice find for enjoying seafood with lebanese flavours.  It is a restaurant to visit during the cooler months as there is an section for entire outdoor seating.
