A GASTRONOMIC VEGETARIAN TASTING MENU FOR SOPHISTICATED PALATES

Our latest culinary mission at Dubai Confidential has been to find a top-class vegetarian restaurant or menu in Dubai – and to then convince a meat eater that vegetarian food can be just as tasty and satisfying! Right on cue, we discovered Table 9, opened by two chefs who formerly worked with Gordon Ramsay. Amongst lots of other menu options, the restaurant is currently offering a 7-class degustation menu for vegetarians, simply called “No Fish, No Meat”.

The gastronomic menu mixes strong flavorsome ingredients with more delicate flavours. Don’t expect simple traditional vegetarian food – we were amazed by the sophistication of each dish, with an explosion of tastes and an innovative combination of ingredients.

The highlights of the menu were a delicate and light goats cheese mousse, with beetroot, candied walnuts, and crushed meringue – and as a starter, the crunchy poached egg, which had the perfect texture and was nestled on a mushroom puree and caramel sauce. The cherry on the cake was a candy trolley that was presented to us at the end of the meal, which contained candy, bonbons, and toffee in glass jars.

At the end of the meal, our companion admitted that vegetarian food could be as good as any gastronomic meal that contained meat. A success!

The vegetarian menu costs 300 AED or 550 AED with assorted wines.
