Rowley’s the famed steak frites institution from London now has a Dubai outpost.
For over 40 years, Rowley’s in London has been serving their signature steak frites-a dish that they have mastered. We finally have a Dubai outpost, located in DIFC. As they don’t take reservations, the cozy, intimate space fills up very quickly during lunch break-so it is best to head there right at 12pm.
Serving traditional British food including bites, starters, house specials, the signature dish is the entrecôte steak, which is served with the restaurant’s secret herb, roquefort and butter sauce.
For us the focus was the steak frites-you pick your cut (stripling or tenderloin) and the temperature-they recommend medium and then let them do the rest of the work. A few minutes after we settled in the first course of freshly baked bread and butter and the delightful leafy green salad tossed in a sharp vinaigrette dressing were brought out.
The piping hot plates of meat followed soon after. The succulent and juicy steaks are sous vide for 24 hours, and they practically melt in your mouth. The unlimited serving of thin, crispy fries is delightful-if you aren’t a purist, the parmesan and spicy toppings are a must-try. There is a choice of three spicy, tangy and creamy sauces-extra bread is, of course, an absolute necessity for mopping up said sauces.
Although the meal is very satisfying and hearty, the Basque cheesecake is so fluffy you can definitely fit it in, promise.
It’s not just the top quality cuts of steak that make this place great, it’s also the attentive service, paired with the cosy interiors, that make it the ultimate comfort meal. The price tag is pretty affordable, too.
