Folly is a European neighbourhood-style brasserie with a modern twist.
For OG Dubai residents, the mention of Folly evokes nostalgia. One of the city’s most refined dining destinations, it sadly closed its door-but now it’s back in refreshed in a new space and reimagined concept.
One of the grandest dining rooms in town, Folly’s glasshouse structure boasts a majestic Art Deco style to it-complete with handmade Murano chandeliers and a showstopper marble fountain. There’s also a large terrace where you will definitely want to be when the weather is playing nice.
The a la carte menu is a haven for reimagined European classics, highlighted by a produce-led selection of dishes. It is imperative to begin with the olive oil experience-a trolley of the finest oils sourced from a handpicked selection of artisan farmers from across the world. It’s not just fun- it’s surprisingly enlightening.
In the snack, the iconic Folly chips are back and have the most perfect texture-layers of thinly sliced golden potatoes, crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy inside. Paired with a green emulsion this dish is phenomenal and a must-order.
The refreshing beetroot and the delicate seared scallops are significantly elevated thanks to the interesting garnish and thoughtful combination of unexpected flavours. The Dorset crab is sweet and flaky, topped with fresh greens-the coastal flavours shine through the dish.
From the mains, the baby chicken is served with crispy granola, savoury cabbage and a touch of tomato jam—creating a balance of textures and flavours that are simple yet robust. We love the buttery, silky linguine-not just for its rich texture but also its helping of lobster meat.
There are some really excellent options for vegetarians, including the onion tart and heirloom carrots.
You’ll definitely need to save room for dessert. The olive oil ice cream with its creamy texture is drizzled with exquisite olive oil and a balsamic glaze, then topped with a delicate, crispy bread for the perfect balance of flavour and texture. Those with a sweet tooth, this just might be the star of the show at Folly Brasserie.
