Brunchflix Brunch at XU offers bold flavours, electrifying entertainment, karaoke fun, and a new movie theme each month.

XU is located inside Kempinski Hotel at Mall of the Emirates. A standout Cantonese restaurant, the menu guides you through a flavourful culinary journey of salty, saucy, and aromatic dishes. The captivating ruby-red decor pays homage to the glamour and opulence of 1930s Shanghai.

Saturdays at XU are a bit different-starting from sharp 1pm, the stage is set, the cameras are rolling and their blockbuster party brunch – Brunchflix – begins. It is a cinematic afternoon filled with bold flavours, electrifying entertainment, karaoke fun, and a new movie theme each month.

For our first brunch experience this May, we stepped into the world of Quest Adventure where epic journeys, mysterious paths, and immersive stories pulled us right into the action. From enchanted jungles to long-lost secrets, this month’s theme brought together the iconic, the unexpected, and the wildly fun, along with an epic selection of some of their most-loved dishes.

Starting with a spicy seafood soup, we couldn’t help but be mesmerised as the chef skilfully carved the duck for the made-to-order Peking duck pancake rolls. The Vietnamese rolls were packed with fresh prawns and crunchy greens-and quite honestly, we nearly filled ourselves up on those alone. The next course brought a delightful array of beef skewers, kimchi, prawn crackers, and of course, their signature homemade sauces.

Next came baskets of steaming dim sum-from dainty, transparent prawn bites to crispy black pepper wagyu puff, this mix of traditional and contemporary dishes is some of the best in the city.

The mains are a mouthwatering eclectic mix of black pepper beef tenderloin, sweet and sour chicken, and stir-fry vegetables. Every dish is well executed and is bound to impress.
