A SHARED IFTAR EXPERIENCE WITH LATIN AMERICAN FLAVOURS

If you’re looking for a unique Iftar experience, Amaru is a strong contender. Nestled within Souk Madinat, this Latin American restaurant draws its name and spirit from the mythical Incan serpent dragon, a symbol of transformation, prosperity, and connection. You can see this spirit in every detail-from its 3D projection-mapped interiors to the textured blend of snakeskin, dragon scale finishes, and Incan and Aztec motifs that set the tone.

For Ramadan, they stay true to the quintessential Latin American culinary style of bold flavours and shared plates, with a flavourful and memorable set menu.

To break the fast, we started with a Latin American twist on the humble date-Imperial Medjool dates they were filled with cacao nibs and pistachio praline for an instant boost of energy. Along with a refreshing glass of laban to hydrate and quench the thirst.

Almost immediately, the table was swiftly set with a vibrant selection of starters-from a zesty quinoa tabouleh with parsley and lemon, to smoky chargrilled corn hummus served with fluffy homemade bread, and a silky Andean consommé layered with roasted mote corn and fresh black truffle.

Small plates of hot moreish bites followed-beef empanadas paired with aji amarillo sauce, lamb croquettes with mozzarella and lime leaves, and roasted sweet corn finished with Manchego cheese and a delicate rocoto emulsion.

For the main course, the star of the show was the slow-cooked lamb leg with saffron rice, mixed mushrooms, and crispy yuca. The tender meat was perfectly seasoned and effortlessly fell off the bone, while the side dishes complemented it seamlessly.

We wrapped up with a sweet finale, tres leches infused with saffron milk and roasted pistachio ice cream, alongside classic alfajores.

Amaru’s Iftar is available throughout Ramadan and is ideal for intimate gatherings, friends, and families looking for a distinctive alternative to traditional offerings.

The Iftar menu, including food and drinks is available from sunset onwards and is priced at 249 AED per person. Reservations are recommended.
