Insipid by merenda, a typically Italian tradition of an afternoon snack. Evoking the same sort of nostalgia, the spread at Scalini is also a mix of typical Italian sweet and savoury bites that are indulgent and delicious.
Starting with delicate finger sandwiches, buttery vol au vent, and a soft lobster bun for the savoury section-it is small bites but eclectic flavours. Instead of scones, the bowl of homemade potato chips seasoned with oregano and served with a creamy tartar sauce are seriously addictive. The Italian churros dusted with sugar and cinnamon are drizzled with Nutella hit the spot.
From the sweet selection of dark chocolate salami and brioche filled with cream, the chocolate cake was our favourite. The spread is best enjoyed with one of their speciality teas.
