EMBARK ON A NORTHERN CHINESE CULINARY JOURNEY AT HUTONG

Hutong Dubai has now launched Northern Dim Sum: The Legacy Continues series.

Hutong is a contemporary Northern Chinese restaurant and bar concept from Hong Kong that truly stands out. This award-winning dining destination is known for its fiery Northern Chinese dishes served in an elegant space, with a bespoke interior design inspired by ‘The Four Arts’ of the Qing Dynasty, this restaurant is our go-to when it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine.

Their latest culinary adventure is “Northern Dim Sum: The Legacy Continues.” This menu transports guests to the vibrant landscapes of Northeastern China, artfully blending the meticulous craft of traditional Cantonese dim sum with the bold, fiery flavours of Hutong’s renowned Northern Chinese cuisine.

Hutong Bei Fang Dim Sum Delicacy (Hutong Northern Dim Sum Platter), is a dramatically presented platter offering a range of flavours from spicy to savoury and it really is hard to pick a firm favourite.

The Charcoal Lamb and Fennel Seed Dumpling is infused with the rich, hearty flavour of mutton and tempered by earthy northern fennel, these dumplings are wrapped in a striking charcoal-infused skin and served with a spicy fennel sauce, combining aromatic flavours in a picture-worthy presentation.

We adored the Crispy Bean Curd Roll with Mapo Tofu and Lobster-this innovative take on classic Mapo tofu features silky tofu and fresh lobster wrapped in a bean-flavoured tofu skin, shallow-fried for crispness, then deep-fried for a golden finish, marrying Sichuan spices with the luxury of lobster.

The moreish Crispy Seafood Spring Roll with Seaweed is made with umami-rich Tushui seaweed from Xiapu. This dish combines fresh shrimp and scallops in a crispy wrapper, creating a richly flavoured spring roll that captures the essence of the ocean.

The fluffy and flavourful DanDan Bao is a creative reimagining of Sichuan Dan Dan noodles, these fluffy buns are filled with Wagyu beef seasoned with a homemade Dan Dan sauce and a hint of nutty sesame, lightly fried for a delicate crunch.

We were intrigued by the description of  the Steamed Sea Cucumber and Abalone Dumpling and Duck Bacon,-echoing the opulence of “Buddha Jumps Over The Wall,” this dumpling features luxurious ingredients like abalone and sea cucumber wrapped in thick skin and enhanced with a 72-hour broth for a decadent taste experience.

Inspired by Chef Ren Ding Xu’s “Vegetarian Three Delicacies,” the Crispy Bean Curd Dumpling with Egg and Wild Mushroom, dish features a mix of wild fungus, broccoli, and eggs in a crispy bean curd wrap, deep-fried to golden perfection.

A must-try is the fiery Pan-fried Ma La Spicy Chicken Dumpling. Capturing the essence of spicy Xinjiang chicken, this dumpling combines tender chicken with a fiery blend of chilli and Sichuan peppercorns, wrapped in a thin, crisp dumpling skin crafted from Northern flour.

Celebrating Jiangsu’s famous crabs, the Seafood Dumplings with Crab Roe and Crab Meat feature rich, flavourful crab meat and roe, slow-cooked and adorned with caviar for an elegant finish.

This delicate plates of dim sum are followed by the first main course of the signature flaming whole peking duck with pancakes. The spectacular show of the chef carving the duck on the table never gets old!

The second main course is the tongue-numbing Ma La Chilli prawns served with a side of garlic rice.

Let us warn you that you may not have space for dessert but if you have a sweet tooth then it will be hard to resist the sesame ganache filled bao served with salted caramel soy ice cream.

Northern Dim Sum: The Legacy Continues delivers an expertly executed menu that is a delight for both the eyes and the palate.
