You don’t need to have chilly weather to enjoy Alpine food in Dubai.
If you are looking for a Friday brunch option which is different to what you usually encounter in Dubai, then you must check Publique, a restaurant serving typical Swiss-style food. Now that is a cuisine we don’t often hear about here!
This daring new food addition in Dubai is set up like the interior of an Alpine chalet, as warm and cosy as a ski lodge thanks to the wooden floors and walls. There is an outdoor terrace overlooking the Burj Al Arab – perfect for the cooler days. A cable car is placed close to the DJ and adds a fun reference to the mountains.
The specialities at Publique include popular mountain cheese dishes aplenty: raclette (hot melted gooey cheese), tartiflette (a mix of potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons and onions), fondue (Bourguignonne-style with beef dipped in hot oil and served with an array of sauces or a classic cheese fondue made with crusty bread dipped in hot cheese) and charcuterie. There are some more “conservative” dish options on the menu (such as veal tenderloin, sea bass etc..).
Their Friday brunch starts with wasabi shrimp, maki rolls, goat cheese balls and pissaladiere (caramelised onions tart with black olives) brought to the table.
The buffet with the mains comes with no frills and has just enough choice of comforting “winter” classics: hot melted cheese, a good charcuterie selection (with pork), beef, chicken or fish with Pierrade hotstone cooking, salads. True cheese lovers would be taken aback by the great quality of their raclette. You will also appreciate that there isn’t an overwhelming and decadent display of food at the buffet.
Desserts include different type of brownies to share that are served with warm salted caramel and ice cream. As you may have guessed the food is not particularly light so don’t start counting the calories while there!
The set-up of the restaurant is not particularly child-friendly but is the perfect place for a simple, laid-back Friday brunch with friends – at an affordable price (from 185 AED).
Publique is also appealing because of its cosiness and cheerful vibe thanks to the live DJ who will make you want to hit the dance floor.
