Our very first taste of oysters homegrown in the UAE!
And that’s another first accomplished-UAE farmed oysters! Dibba Bay is the company that has started farming homegrown oysters in the pristine waters of Dibba, Northern Fujairah, in the United Arab Emirates.
It is the Middle East’s first shellfish farm, and has partnered with Marriott International Luxury Brand Portofolio to bring Oyster pop-up series throughout the country.
We were lucky to experience a Dibba bay oysters tasting at Ajman Saray during our Epicurean Journey weekend escape arranged by The Luxury Collection and Foodiva (article and video available here for the full scoop).
The food stall setting is really cool as the outdoor pop-up booth was made of wooden industrial pallets for the flooring, seating and overall stand display. We love the aesthetic and design!

The pricing seems fair as you can either opt for one (15AED), three (40 AED), half a dozen (75AED) or a dozen oysters (135AED) and enjoy them in different ways: natural with lemon or lime, flavored with pomelo salad and ponzu dressing (a refreshing must!), spiced tomato and cilantro and more. They also offer packages with beverages and an interesting list of suggested grape pairings or cocktails with your order. 
The team has created a few must-try recipes, such as the warm Oyster Chowder with veal bacon and fennel or the Lime ‘n’ cilandro Avocado, both priced at 18AED.
We personally felt the oysters have a very different taste from what we were used to, and will probably appeal to palates who usually fear oysters for its strong iodic and salty taste.
So, next time you crave oysters, you now know you can join these pop-up tastings and get your bihalves fix while discovering a new variety!
