Wheeler’s of St James by the great British Chef Marco Pierre White is located at DIFC.
Based in DIFC, the swanky establishment, has a serene and classic vibe with chic contemporary touches in the purple beam that illuminates the bar, golden, reed-like lighting casting a soft glow overhead and the black-and-white portraits of elegant models on the walls. It’s the perfect blend of old and new, traditional sophisticated and modern innovation.
The menu takes traditional British dishes and re-dresses them in modern garb. All the old favourites are here – Dover sole, roast lamb, battered cod, oysters and even spotted dick, an English pudding of dense sponge dotted with dried fruit that was popular in the nineteenth century. The food is comforting and wholesome and the ingredients are fresh and flavourful.
Wheeler’s gives these old favourites a subtle but effective makeover, bringing them into the twenty-first century and recasting them to suit discerning contemporary tastes.
