Our latest foodie adventure led us to Shogun, located in the heart of Deira.  The interior is a casual space, with a maze of rooms (some separated with simple curtains, others with doors) – and although there is plenty of seating, the restaurant always seems busy.
The meal began with a vast array of fresh vegetable and fish Kimchi brought to the table, followed by an order of the Spicy Shrimp. The latter was cooked perfectly, served on a sizzler in a red sauce with spring onions.
For our main, we chose to cook Bulgogi at the table. The strips of raw meat arrived with garlic, lettuce, onions, and peanut sauce on the side.  It was, without doubt, the tastiest example of the dish we have tried in the city.  We also ordered a portion of Beef Ribs, which were juicy and moist, with the meat melting in our mouth. We added a super spicy hot sauce for extra kick.
This is the kind of place where you want to roll up your sleeves and focus totally on the food. It’s affordable too, with the total bill coming to roughly 380 AED for four people.   And although the eatery is a bit of a trek, the journey is well worth the effort.
