Singapore chili crab is world famous and if you are on the hunt for it in Dubai then we know just the spot. Peppercrab is an authentic Singaporean seafood restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Guests are greeted with the ‘fire dances’ from the woks by the chefs in the showcase kitchen. The dark wood decor inside gives the place that Asian vibe and the terrace outside overlooks the lush gardens of the hotel.
The menu consists of a long list of Singapore favorites-from beef rending (which is tender and spicy) to roasted duck with pancakes. It is recommended to start with some appetizers-the salt and pepper calamari (55 AED). The fish crackers are on the house and come with a trio of sauces that make them very hard to resist!
Although the kitchen offers crab cooked in several different manners (Malay style, wok fried with salt and pepper or then black pepper), it is the chili crab that is definitely a must-try. The price and size varies according to the catch on the day. Our table was filled with wet towels, finger bowls with lemons and crab-eating paraphernalia before the arrival of the grand dish.
The only way to tackle the crab is to grab the crackers and dig right in with your hands. A little hard work will give you chunky pieces of crab meat that you can mix with the incredible rich sauce and scoop up with the steamed mantou buns. We found ourselves mopping up every last bite of the gravy.
