THIS HOMEGROWN RESTAURANT SERVES ITALIAN FOOD LIKE NO OTHER IN DUBAI

Matto Restaurant Dubai

MATTO is a homegrown brand serving classic Italian food with a side of mischief at The Oberoi Dubai.

We can never say no to Italian food and that is why we were one of the first to experience Matto in Dubai.  It is a homegrown restaurant serving classic Italian food with a side of mischief which aims to recast the archetypal Italian dining experience. The Italian chefs at Matto take inspiration from their grandmother’s kitchen and have created an innovative menu that will have you drooling as you read through it.

The welcoming decor is industrial and vibrant, and the interiors allow guests to be immersed in the cooking experience as they watch the chefs bring each dish to life in the open kitchen. A progressive mural by artist Chafa Ghaddar adorns Matto’s walls to complete the relaxed yet upbeat vibe.

The innovative recipes are inspired by methods that have been passed down through generations, and the dishes divulge dynamic combinations of flavors and ingredients. Our Parmigiana (55 AED) starter of eggplant layered on a homemade tomato sauce, mozarella, basil and parmesan was so incredibly tasty that we couldn’t help ourselves but order a second one!

The Patatine Al Tartufo (48 AED) is a handcut fries topped with a generous helping of truffle sauce and served on an edible basket of crispy parmesan.  It is seriously indulgent but worth every calorie.

If you are into pizza then the Calamari (78 AED) is the one to order.  The squid ink pizza base is topped with squid, mozzarella and green pea cream.

You cannot come to Matto and not try one of their pastas.  We went for the Melanze and Burrata (85 AED).  A combination of fried eggplant with cherry tomato sauce and topped with creamy burrata that the served mixed on the table.

If you want something a little more calorie conscious then the Tagliata di Tonno ( 135 AED)sesame crusted sliced yellow-fin tuna served with a light sauce is the one to order.

After a grand meal like that one would imagine there would be no place for dessert.  But after reading the menu we had to order at least one to share.  The Canoli (45 AED) stuffed with sweet ricotta cheese sounded to good to miss and we literally wiped the platter clean.

Matto is decidedly refreshing and definitely a place we will be returning to very soon.

Matto is located in The Oberoi Hotel, Business Bay.
