A SPECTACULAR IMPERIAL BRUNCH EXPERIENCE

Hutong is now hosting Friday brunch every weekend.

Hutong is a contemporary Northern Chinese restaurant and bar concept from Hong Kong. This award-winning dining destination also has an iconic location at the Shard in London and now its third outpost is at DIFC, Dubai. Known for its fiery Northern Chinese dishes served in an elegant space, with a bespoke interior design inspired by ‘The Four Arts’ of the Qing Dynasty, this restaurant is our latest go-to when it comes to Chinese cuisine.

We were recently invited to enjoy their brand-new Imperial Brunch that will take place every Friday afternoon. The concept is inspired by one of the grandest meals documented in the Chinese culinary legacy and pays tribute to the Manchu-Han Imperial Feast, a legendary banquet in the Qing dynasty.

Centrally located in DIFC, the stunning space features an indoor restaurant, a lounge bar, a private terrace and two private dining rooms. The design has been inspired by the border provinces of the Silk Road, as depicted through the intricate details of the hand-crafted sandstone wall, embodying the crossover between the Chinese and Islamic worlds of design. The main feature is the eye-catching traditional Wishing Tree in the center of the restaurant, it is an homage to the famous Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees in Hong Kong.

The day of the brunch, we arrived shortly after 12pm and were surprised to see many tables already occupied. The traditional Chinese entertainment and a resident DJ, really added to the atmosphere and create a very lively ambience.

The brunch offers a taste of Hutong’s exquisite Chinese fare – the epitome of Northern Chinese cuisine. The three-course sharing feast, showcases delicate dim-sum, fluffy steamed bao buns and a fine selection of signature dishes such as Yun Nan Chicken Stir-Fried (with an aromatic truffle sauce) and Pan-fried Sea Bass. The celebratory feast finishes with a stunning assortment of beautifully presented desserts.

The variety of dim-sum includes everything from prawn sui mai to har gau-it is impossible to pick a favourite. For our main dishes we picked wok-tossed beef and truffle chicken and they both hit the spot. However, it was the dessert platter that was an absolute show-stopper. A medley of different sweet treats including Japanese fortune and Ma La, the presentation and the taste are top-notch.

The Imperial Brunch at Hutong is an absolute must-try if you are looking for a family-friendly Friday feast.
