Qbara is the top-choice for Dubai residents looking for a Middle-Eastern inspired fusion meal.
The chic and sophisticated décor filled with rich textiles and ornate antiques has a distinct ambience that we personally adore. Always impressed by their food, this Ramadan we had to try their set menu for Iftar, that combines a mix of traditional Arabic dishes with a surprisingly unexpected modern twist. The result is quite simply, totally phenomenal.
The meal begins with the typical cold mezza but with hints of special ingredients, including a feta dip and a green hummous. A choice of soup includes pumpkin, harrissa and lentil-all hearty and filling.
The next course is unique in its flavor combinations but they all work in perfect harmony- soft-shell crab shawarmas, lobster kibbeh and a burrata salad with Arabic spices. There is a selection of freshly baked breads that come with a zaatar dip to keep you occupied between courses.
Picking a main dish amongst the three options of lamb, chicken and fish is difficult but of course we gravitate towards our personal favorite black cod. It is served in a tagine on a bed of rice cooked with onions in a traditional way and the cod itself is delicate and cooked to perfection-definitely a winning dish.
Dessert is a no-fuss, bite-seized platter of typical Arabic sweets that are exactly the right proportions to end the Iftar on a high note.
A juxtaposition of flavors, textures and ingredients, Qbara provides a complete Arabesque experience with subtle modern additions.
Iftar costs 180 AED per person.
