A DELIGHTFUL FRENCH BISTRO IN DUBAI

A Parisian style café in the heart of Jumeirah Lake Towers.

We were invited to experience Couqley, a neo-bistro tucked away below the Movenpick Hotel in Jumeirah Lake Towers. The restaurant has a rustic bistro vibe and the cozy setting transports you to a typical tavern in the French countryside.

The Ă  la carte menu offers an array of starters, salads and mains. We began with a simple salad sauvage (83 AED), a mix of arugala, avocado, quinoa and pine nuts that was topped with a balsamic dressing.

The decadently rich foie gras (119 AED) is a must-try. Prepared daily, using a recipe passed down the by Chef’s grandfather, it was served with strawberry confit and pain de figues.

The Couqley Bavette (119 AED) was a juicy flank steak topped with caramelised shallots topped with a balsamic glaze and served with a pommes frites. The ideal dish if you are feeling carnivorous.

The house speak, duck confit (141 AED) was tender, juicy and melted in the mouth. It was served with caramelized onions, fresh oyster mushrooms and sautéed potatoes.

Although happily full, we still managed to finish the French toast that arrived once our mains were done. A moist piece of brioche, it had the perfect balance of flavours without being overwhelmingly sweet.

Couqley offers indulgent and hearty French cooking that is utterly and effortlessly delicious.
