Asia De Cuba is located at the Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina.
Our Abu Dhabi readers can vouch for our loyalty towards, Asia de Cuba. So, of course we had to be one of the first to experience the newly opened, Dubai outpost of this popular Chino-Latino restaurant.
The two-storey venue at the Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina reflects Asia de Cuba’s quirky personality, with bespoke wallpaper, furnishings and décor.
The menu represents Chef Pous’ interpretation of what Asian-influenced Cuban food and consists of five main sections: Ceviches, Sushi, Small Plates, Entrees and Cuban BBQ and a selection of desserts.
We began with the flavourful signature small plates-the Tunapica Tartare with crispy wontons, Spanish olives, currants and avocado; and Octopus al Ajillo with kale tabbouleh, lychee and garlic chips. The tunapica was a combination of tuna and beetroot-something we haven’t tried before but really loved the combination. While the octopus was cooked perfectly, we felt that the lychee overpowered the rest of the ingredients.
From the Ceviche Bar the standout dish was the Tuna with Asian pear, orange and seared Foie Gras. An indulgent yet extremely satisfying dish-we will definitely order it again!
In the entrees the Asian style Paella was wholesome and hit the right spot but it was the short rib Vaca Frita-48 hours adobo braised beef marinated in an Asian bbq sauce and served with a side of thai salad and chimichurri sauce that we absolutely adored.
We ended our meal on a sweet note with the Tres Leches constructed right on our table.
Post dinner, we visited the Asia De Cuba Lounge where they host a Latino band every Tuesday to Friday from 9PM. Featuring a tropical chic vibe with touches of Latin American charm, the lounge interiors feature an intoxicating blend of tropical hues, aged surfaces and vintage details, exuding a cosy, casual atmosphere.
