Always on the search for new eateries, our latest find is an Armenian spot in the heart of downtown. The multi-story restaurant has a traditional décor that is cozy and homely.
We started with the Armenian tabbouleh-made with bulgar, it was refreshing and light. Our other starter of kibbeh, was the vegetarian version stuffed with potatoes, walnuts and onions-a welcome change from the meat filling it is worth trying.
For the mains we had to try the famed manti, baked dumplings filled with meat and topped with a garlic yogurt and sumac, this local version is robust in taste and texture.
The famed fishnah kebab a house special came next. An interesting mix of kebabs sitting on top of a sweet and sour cherry sauce and homemade bread, we adored the delicate flavors.
As newbies to the cuisine we didn’t know what to expect. The food was very similar to other middle-eastern cuisines with some surprise ingredients, a place worth checking out if you want to try something new without getting out of your comfort zone.Mayrig Sheikh Mohamad Bin Rashid Boulevard Downtown Dubai Tel: +9714-4539945 www.mayrigdubai.com/ Location Map
