TAKE PART IN THE CAR FREE DAY 2015 IN DUBAI

Car Free Day in Dubai

Join the Car Free Day 2015 in Dubai is on February 4.

We seem to be guilty of always using our car, even to travel short distances in Dubai.  This is why we are counting down to the Car Free Day on February 4, 2015, when all motorists are being urged to leave their cars at home.  Dubai Municipality is organizing this Car Free Day as a way to not only reduce the carbon footprint but also commemorate the United Arab Emirates’s (UAE) National Environment Day.

If you are one of those who can’t image life without the car, this initiative is a good way to try and explore other alternative travel methods.  In a city that has a state-of-the-art Metro system and of course the newly inaugurated Tram (click here for details), there is really no excuse to not try them out.

We personally love the Byky stands dotted all around the city-a fun way to travel and get some exercise also.  For more details click here.

Oh, and if you already considering switching to biking regularly , we have discovered a tiny treasure trove stall inside Dubai Garden Centre that sells trendy Linus Californian bikes (priced between 2000 and 3000 AED). A bit pricey, but still cost much less than a car. They also have a great range of accessorizes including helmets and baskets-the first of their kind in Dubai.

All Dubai residents interested in taking part on Car Free Day can e-register on the municipal website, companies must confirm their participation before the end of January while individuals can register until February 3.  Alternatively you can send an email to carfeeday@dm.gov.ae for details.
