The Namlet Drink

We are big fans of this locally made Emirati drink that is available to buy in very few places around the country. Luckily, we have found a tiny Coffee shop that sells them in Abu Dhabi.

This lemonade, poured into a unique glass bottle, is available in five different flavors: lemon, orange, pomegranate, jallab, and rose.

Namlet, also named Tash Ma Tash, is considered to be the first soda drink introduced to the GCC countries, dated back to the 1920’s, before all the famous sodas were introduced to the region.

Burrata

 

Originating in a little town in Italy, Burrata is now also proudly made in the UAE.  Produced in a factory in Ajman, this trendy new cheese that is seen on high-end restaurant menus all over Dubai is a must-try.  The skilled Italian experts at the factory use both their hands and machinery to ensure that the flavors remain true to the traditional style.  The cheese has no added preservatives and is made from local pasteurized milk that allows for a slightly longer shelf life.

Shiffa

This luxurious natural skincare brand, was made in Dubai.  Meaning ‘Healing’ in Arabic it has been inspired by Arabian heritage and founded by skincare specialist Dr Lamees Hamdan.  The range of products, which are all made with pure essential oils, plant extracts, and minerals is a beauty favorite both locally and internationally.
In the UAE it is available at Sephora.

 

The Camel Leather factory

Al Khaznah is the first local tannery based in the UAE near Al Ain that produces its own camel leather.

Check their online boutique as this tannery not only produces leather but also designs and produces glamour, voyage, business bags or pocket ware accessories that can be purchased online.

We are quite fond of their Ibn Battuta voyage collection that is exclusively produced with premium camel leathers and successfully meets traditions, savoir-faire and high-end items.

Ski Dubai

An indoor ski resort spanning over 20,000 square feet it boasts a ski slope, real igloos, a snow park and even a ski lift.  The ideal place to chill out and get away from the scorching summer temperatures there is approximately 6,000 tonnes of snow inside this extraordinary structure.  A tourist attraction and a favorite activity amongst locals and expats, Ski Dubai is definitely something for the UAE to be proud of.

What still amazes us most is the real snowflakes that fall on the slopes.
