We tell you all about Jumeirah Group’s first luxury “Eco-Conscious” Resort on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi
If you have driven by Saadiyat Island wondering what that new development beside Saadiyat Beach Club, it is actually the latest project by Jumeirah Group in Abu Dhabi. And they proudly opened Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, the group’s first luxury “eco-conscious” Resort, nestled on the pristine shores of Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.
The Hotel’s location at Saadiyat Island
The luxury beachfront Resort overlooks 400 metres of beautiful white sand on the Arabian Gulf and offers a front-row seat to breathtakingly beautiful scenery and undisturbed wildlife.
Depending on the season, guests may catch a glimpse of Indo-pacific humpback and bottle nose dolphins, green or hawksbill turtles and dugongs, which live in the Saadiyat Mangroves. More inland, gazelles, socotra cormorants, grey herons and greater flamingos are known to visit.
Just a 10 minute drive from Abu Dhabi city centre, guests can explore the island’s 9kms of mesmerising white beach and the crystal clear waters of the Arabian Gulf which provide a feeling of relaxation and harmony. Golf aficionados can enjoy the close proximity to Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, the Arabian Gulf’s first beachfront course.
“This Resort is a place like no other. Located next to one of the most spectacular beaches in the Arabian Gulf, every aspect of the resort’s design has been influenced by the beauty of this location,” said Linda Griffin, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, General Manager.
The Hotel’s eco-conscious principles
Eco-conscious practices at the Resort go beyond preserving the island’s protected sand dunes – Jumeirah has partnered with Dubai-based water treatment company Trust Your Water to reduce single-use plastics. Guests are offered locally-sourced filtered still and sparkling water in their own personal reusable bottles that can be refilled at the resort’s water stations.
The resort has also eliminated the use of plastic straws, favouring straws made from recycled material.
“Our commitment to protecting the natural sand dunes and sea around this hotel means that we are also continuously trying to minimise the impact that guests have on this environment by bringing in our own environmentally-friendly solutions and working with partners who are dedicated to employing sustainable, ethical practices in their businesses,” said Linda Griffin.
The hotel’s facilities
Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort provides a luxurious and environmentally-sensitive holiday, perfect for honeymooners and families looking for an island escape.
The beautifully designed modern, sunlit rooms overlook the Arabian Gulf and the panoramic suites offer floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies. The Resort also offers three outdoor infinity pools, a kids’ pool and fitness fanatics will love the Bodyism Wellness Centre, the very first to open in the United Arab Emirates.
For an even more luxurious experience, there’s a choice of private 2, 3 and 4-bedroom duplex villas with private pools.
Our Short Stay
We were invited to stay a night at the hotel and it truly was a relaxing experience. From the seamless check-in to the friendly staff, everything about this resort is executed to perfection.
Our fabulous room had a very clean and minimal decor. It echoes the modern aesthetic used throughout the hotel. The balcony included a sunbed and had direct views of the sea.
Even if you are not into breakfast, we insist you make an effort for their morning buffet spread. The chefs have truly outdone themselves and included everything from a live egg station to smoothie bowls and Asian, Arabic and Indian sections. We couldn’t resist ordering a freshly made South Indian dosa that came with a moreish filling and also adored the spinach smoothie bowl topped with fresh fruit.
Other highlights of our stay included dinner at Tean (review here).
We cannot wait to visit their spa featuring a grand Moroccan Hammam, salt rooms and much more.
Their expansive Spa means there’s no limit to relaxation. The lavish 2,700 square metre haven of tranquillity and quiet sophistication features a grand Moroccan hammam, 15 treatment roomswith male and female facilities, saunas, hydrotherapy pools, steam rooms, salt rooms, experience showers and a traditional Arabic rasul room – a cleansing ritual which promises to leave spa lovers feeling relaxed with beautifully exfoliated skin.
Guests staying in the Spa Villas can even enjoy pampering experiences in the privacy on their own room.
José Silva, Chief Executive Officer, Jumeirah Group, said: “We are proud to bring Jumeirah to Saadiyat Island and to open our second luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi. The opening is a significant landmark in achieving our strategic expansion goals worldwide and is our sixth Jumeirah hotel to open this year. We are confident that Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort will further enhance Abu Dhabi as a distinct and diverse tourist destination, and we look forward to welcoming guests from the local community as well as international travellers. We anticipate it will be a very popular and welcome addition to Saadiyat.”
The Resort offers restaurants and lounges with a diverse, yet refined selection of dining options.
Guests can try traditional Arabic flavours at Levantine-inspired TEAN, take long poolside lunches with refreshing drinks at the pool bar and dine al fresco at MARE MARE which serves the finest Italian cuisine. We are very fond of Mara mare decor restaurant in Dubai and cannot wait to visit this newcomer in Abu Dhabi!
WHITE, the resort’s chic all day dining restaurant offers local and international dishes alongside live cooking stations, for a remarkable dining experience. Guests looking for a more authentic experience can dine in Majlis Saadiyat which offers the warmth of Arab hospitality and a premium selection of refreshments, tea, coffee and delicious pastries.
So many cultural and entertainment options to enjoy during your hotel stay
Saadiyat Island is undergoing a remarkable transformation into a world-class leisure, culturally connected and residential destination.
In just a year, The world acclaimed Louvre Abu Dhabi, also located on the island, has already received over a million visitors. It will be joined by the Zayed National Museum and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi making the island a hub for global culture, arts and entertainment.
