Next time you are looking for an affordable yet trendy hotel in Dubai, just think about the newly opened DusitD2 Kenz Dubai, as it has many appealing factors.
It is not only centrally located in Barsha Heights, with a metro station nearby, it is also fancy, affordable and has two restaurants Dubai foodies love visiting: Ostro and Wise Kwai.
Upon arrival, the whole team was very efficient and welcoming. At first sight, we loved the oversized hotel lobby and especially the distinct artworks designed by the Emirati artist Zeinab Al Hashemi. Reminiscent of the traditional dhow sail, they add a unique touch to the lobby.
You will find more artwork from the Emirati artist displayed throughout the hotel, and we loved spotting them in the different areas.
Rooms at the hotel are comfortable and functional, and the toiletries are all natural and organic by Rituals, a brand that we had recently featured (full article here). We were lucky enough to be upgraded in a room with a balcony-and we enjoyed the view from the 12th floor.
There is an outdoor pool, steam, sauna, gym and spa at the top floor (17th floor). The pool is not big but offers uninterrupted views of the Dubai skyline and the Palm Jumeirah.
If you love discovering outside the box foodie outlets, this hotel is made for you as there are two very fancy options to try.
Breakfast time at Ostro
At the ground floor, Ostro Dubai has a romantic and Instagrammable decor vibes we just adored. The stylish decor transported us to the South of France, with its art deco glass and wood veranda. This outlet has a relaxing feel, everything is in the details, from lavender arranged in pots on each table, shelves filled with many jars, utensils or trinkets. We are still in awe and felt like embarked on a romantic tour visiting Provence.
We definitely enjoyed having our buffet breakfast there and appreciated the uplifting spirit the restaurant offers. Everything served there was appealing, homemade and sweetly displayed. The egg frittata was tasty, as was the delight of the day – sweet potato tots.
A healthy corner featured yogurt and muesli served in large jam pots, there were many kinds of nuts and dry fruits to grab. We tried their Dream Apple elixir beverage served as a shot and prepared with apple, honey and orange. If you are into green juices, then go for the kale, spinach, mint and cucumber combination.
Young and colorful vibes at Wise Kwai
One floor up, we had a great time visiting Wise Kwai, a street food like Thai canteen. Decor is totally different from Ostro and includes unique colorful circular lights above your heads. The restaurant was filled with residents and travellers enjoying comfy street style Thai recipes. We especially liked our creamy coconut soup that was served in an individual pot. Prepared with roasted duck slices, roasted young coconut, Thai herbs and different types of mushrooms, it was very flavorful and definitely filling.
Our spicy green mango salad came with prawns and cashew nuts (50 AED) and was large enough to share for two people.
Whether you go for a starter or main course, prices are very appealing – mostly between 40 to 70 AED – and portions quite generous. Whether you fancy seafood, noodles or meat, Wise Kwai has you covered with aplenty options. We opted for a green curry which came with large prawns and soft baby eggplants.
Their signature homemade coconut ice creams were very creamy and flavorful. Not to be missed, if you want to finish on a light and sweet note.

As you probably noticed while reading, our recent stay there had us hooked and we can’t wait to visit again very soon. This is definitely a hotel to consider if you or your friends and family are coming to Dubai for a weekend and are looking for more than just a room!
