If you love Indian food, then picking the right restaurant can often be a daunting task, even if you know the cuisine well. Recently we were invited to Indian Summer, a fairly new addition to the vast Indian dining scene in Dubai.
Located in Karama, it is very easy to find and there is parking all around. The décor is formal and retro with dark walls and calm lighting. The setting is ideal for an intimate dinner with friends and family, or anyone you want to introduce to Indian cuisine.
The extensive menu boasts regional specialties and classic fare, all prepared fresh and served piping hot to the table. We began our meal with Chicken Pahadi Tikka (36 AED)-flavorful cubes of chicken, marinated in a mint sauce and cooked in clay oven.
No Indian meal is complete without a bowl of lentils. Our order of the Dal Tadka (18 AED) was a simple but tasty dish of yellow lentil tempered with cumin and chilies. Unsure if we wanted to try the Balti Aloo (32 AED), we still went ahead and ordered them and didn’t regret it for a minute. A dish of potatoes cooked with peppers in traditional spices, it was served in a unique ‘bucket’ style pot. We thoroughly enjoyed scooping up the daal and potatoes with the Romali Roti (6 AED), thin flatbread served straight from the oven.
The Lobster Biryani (140 AED) announced its arrival in a grand manner-the aromatic spices filled up the table as the platter with the lobster shell surrounded by the rice was set in the centre. A moist and rich dish, the chunks of lobster were mixed in with the saffron basmati rice. A delightful combination, it is indulgent and impressive.
The portions are generous and the wait staff is well versed and can guide you with information and helpful suggestions depending on what you fancy. An all around affordable treat, Indian Summer delivers great fare from all across India that will satisfy all your cravings for flavorful authentic food.
